ATITHI NIVAS (AYODHYA GUEST HOUSE)

In the early years of 2000 the whole Ajodhya Hill area was a malaria-prone zone. At that time there were neither the facilities of blood testing Laboratories for detecting Malaria at the government level, nor there was awareness at the community level for the proper measures for the prevention and treatment of malaria. In the year 2000-2001 Mandra LIONS Club launched Malaria control program by the Fund support of GTZ, Germany and WBVHA. Dr. Amitabha Nandi the former Head and Professor of Tropical Medicine Kolkata gave the technical support for this program. We constructed the set-up for blood testing laboratory as the community of Ajodhya Hill area availed the opportunity easily. After a period of time, malaria was under control and the government also set up blood testing laboratories in the BPHC. we inspire the community to avail the opportunity of testing their blood in the BPHC. Then our building of the blood testing unit remained idle for a few years. Some of our well-wishers encourage us to turn the infrastructure as a Guest House. Then Mandra Lions Club remodeled the infrastructure and opened it for the tourist of Ajodhya Hill by taking some donations from them. The donations are Exempted under 80G of the Income Tax Act. The funds collected from the donation are spent to run The ‘After School Program’ to gain class-appropriate qualities of some primary school reading tribal children of the Ajodhya hill area. We also run five ‘Aloke Kendra’ (pre-primary education centre) for the distressed children of the Bagmundi plan area. The Infrastructure is not use for any commercial purpose; it is used as a resource generation unit and the fund is used to run the child development program of Mandra Lions Club.
